Event Details
The UBC Terry Project is
pleased to present our student conference, one that focuses on the inspired
efforts of the very folks you share classes with.
For the second year we will be collaborating with TED to offer a TEDx event. TEDx Terry talks will be held
on October 2nd, 2010 at the Life
Science Institute. Here, eight student speakers will be given a high
profile platform to communicate their ideas, passions and desires to an
audience of 350 UBC peers.
In addition, we are also featuring The Briefing @ TEDx Terry talks. A series
of charitable organizations will be given the chance to pitch their idea to the
audience in under three minutes. Each attendee contributes one dollar towards a
pot (via the registration fee) and will then vote on which organization to
receive a pot of money. One dollar, one vote, one big opportunity to make a
difference!
Please note the ticket price does include a free lunch, coffee and snacks,
as well as a donation towards The Briefing portion of the day!

The Terry Project is a cross-faculty program designed to educate undergraduate students on pressing global issues like climate change, poverty, conflict and disease. Recognizing that these problems demand a rich multi-dimensional understanding, our chief aim is to create forums that promote interdisciplinary dialogue between students of the humanities and students of the life sciences.
By hosting a prominent speakers series, organizing a TEDx student conference, offering an interdisciplinary academic course, and fostering a vibrant online community, we inspire students across disciplines to come together to discuss issues of global import.
